Videos show cars making donuts at Shockoe Bottom
RICHMOND, Virginia – Police said dozens of people shut off traffic overnight at Shockoe Bottom in Richmond early Sunday morning.
Some people used their cell phones to record cars making donuts in the middle of the street near 18th and Mainstreet.
Business owners feared there was no agent in sight.
However, Richmond Police Officer Phon Hoonsan said police responded to several calls about reckless driving, including a “car burn / donut race” at 18th and East Main around 1:35 a.m.
By the time police arrived, a car was cited for illegal parking, but police found no “reckless driving or illegal behavior,” Hoonsan said.
David Napier, president of the Shockoe Neighborhood Association, said he would speak about the video on Monday.
Crime insider Jon Burkett sent the video to Mayor Levar Stoney, but he had yet to respond on Sunday night.
