To inculcate and encourage business development skills in young people, the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh will soon launch an online course on entrepreneurship.

The course will be conducted at the college level and will obtain a certificate for the participants upon completion. The certification will be issued by the MSME and export promotion departments.

Additional Chief Secretary, MSME, Navneet Sehgal said the course curriculum and modalities are under development.

“The idea is to empower young people by empowering them so that they become not just job seekers but job creators,” he said.

Sehgal also said that in addition to providing the certificate, the 10-day course will also provide exposure tours and bank links for loans to translate ideas into action.

MSME Co-Commissioner (Exports and Lucknow Zone), Pawan Agarwal, said the certification opportunity will be included in the departmental application called MSME Sarthi.

“Two main reasons prompted the department to think about this. The Chief Minister’s priority of creating jobs in the state is the first reason, while the demand for training and experience in certain programs of the development mission skills and banking conditions for loan disbursement are the second.”

The course will have general certifications in addition to advanced courses in specific areas like food processing, agricultural production, organic farming and mechanical work in later stages.

The department also considered the idea of introducing entrepreneurial skills at upper secondary level so that the foundations for their autonomy are laid in the formative years.

In addition to the certification program, the MSME department has decided to double the seats on the board of Mati Kala and the Vishwakarma Shram Samman program.
