Councilwoman Renee Grout and the Foothills Area Command are hosting a family event called Touch A Truck on Saturday, July 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Four Hills Shopping Center. This will be a chance for kids of all ages to get up close and personal with police cars, fire trucks and heavy equipment. The event will include:

  • The APD lowrider
  • APD, BCSO and State Police Law Enforcement Vehicles
  • Fire trucks
  • Construction equipment, including a front-end loader, dump truck, grader and vacuum cleaner, which is used to clean storm sewers
  • Army and Air National Guard will be there with military vehicles
  • The City’s Departments of Aviation, Community Safety, Arts and Culture, and Family and Community Services will organize activities and demonstrations for children.
  • The Department of Animal Welfare will host a pet adoption event
  • Free Paletas offered by the Paleta Bar (while supplies last)
  • Music will be provided by DJ Evan of Red Sapphire Entertainment

“The corner of Central and Tramway is the heart of Council District 9 and the gateway to Albuquerque,” said Renee Grout, Councilwoman for District 9. “It has also had its fair share of struggles lately. I want to encourage neighborhood gatherings like this that reclaim our city, support our local businesses, and create opportunities for families to interact with our police and firefighters who work so hard to keep us safe.
