Shopify Linkpop’s New “Link in Bio” Tool Brings Ecommerce to Social Media

Shopify has launched a new “link in bio” tool called Linkpop that online businesses and influencers can use to sell products to their social media followers.

Social platforms tend to give their users a chance to link to an outside website from their profiles, leading to the creation of a cottage industry for “link in bio” tools for social platforms. like Instagram or TikTok.

Shopify’s new tool essentially gives brands a way to set up their Shopify storefront directly on these platforms.

What is Linkpop?

If you’re familiar with “link in bio” tools, Linkpop will look pretty familiar.

Users can sign up to get their own page, with a nice short URL that looks something like “linkpop.com/yourname”. Then they can add a bunch of additional content that links to their personal website, blog, playlists, or an Amazon link to that desk lamp that everyone on TikTok keeps asking them about.

But the ability to add Shopify store products is unique to Linkpop: with it, users can add “buyable links to [their] Linkpop page powered by Shopify checkout,” says Shopify on their website.

If they’re not on Shopify yet, they can get a plan starting at $9 per month. Linkpop is free, but the Shopify integration that sets it apart requires a plan.

Everything is designed to be easy to get started and optimized for fast load times so that a potential customer audience doesn’t have a lot of friction preventing them from completing an order. Plus, it comes with built-in analytics features that record data on page views, link clicks, and sales over time.

Try Shopify

This new tool seems likely to usher in a new generation of young influencers who want to get into e-commerce. For the right small business, this could be a way to direct audiences to specific sales or featured products. Multi-channel e-commerce is still important for small operations, but so is time management, and Linkpop makes the process of selling across multiple platforms a little easier. .

We rank Shopify among our top e-commerce website builders, and the platform has a lot to offer outside of Linkpop. You can check out our full Shopify review here, but here’s a snippet that sums up the service’s strengths:

“Shopify is one of the biggest and best eCommerce builders out there, allowing you to create and manage an online store and many different sales channels. Best of all, it offers a huge range of integrations third parties, making it so flexible that virtually any business need can be met, big or small.

The $9 per month price will get you the Shopify Lite plan, which won’t have everything a small business needs to run a full operation. The next plan, Basic, costs $29 per month and will let you run an online store with a website, not just a Linkpop.
