IPL 2021: Maxwell and Christian face online abuse after RCB exit
Glenn Maxwell, teammate Dan Christian and pregnant partner Jorgia Dunn have suffered online abuse after their IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore was ousted from the ongoing edition of the lucrative league.
An enraged Maxwell slammed the trolls online, calling them “garbage” and “absolutely disgusting” even as Christian demanded that his partner be kept away.
“Great season by RCB, unfortunately we’re a long way from what we thought it was. That doesn’t take away from an amazing season. Some of the garbage that has been pouring out on social media is absolutely disgusting,” Maxwell wrote in a post. on his Twitter account.
“We are human beings who give our best every day. Try to be a decent person maybe instead of spreading abuse,” he added.
Maxwell’s statement came after the perennial underachievers RCB collapsed from the T20 League after losing by four wickets to the Kolkata Knight Riders in the eliminator here on Monday night.
The versatile Australian star thanked “true fans” for their love and support during RCB’s trip this season.
“Thanks to the REAL fans who shared their love and appreciation for the players who gave their all. Unfortunately, there are some horrible people who make social media a horrible place. This is unacceptable. Please don’t don’t be like them, “he added.
Maxwell’s Australian teammate Christian also alleged that his pregnant partner, Jorgia Dunn, suffered abuse on social media after being given a day off from work for RCB.
Christian scored just nine points and went wicket with the ball, conceding 29 points on 1.4 overs at a save rate of 17.40.
“Check out the comments section of my partner’s Instagram post. I didn’t have a good game tonight, but it’s sport. However, leave it out of that,” Christian wrote on Instagram.
