How to Choose the Right Size When Buying Shoes Online

Did you know that the average shoe size for men in the United States is between 9 and 12? Regardless of your shoe size, you will need to do a lot of research to make sure you choose the right size when buying shoes online. This may seem easy to do at first.

All you have to do is choose the option that corresponds to your usual shoe size. But is it so easy? In some cases, finding a shoe that fits you well when shopping online can be quite tricky. Read on and learn more about how to buy shoes online and make sure they fit your foot size.

Find your foot size

Although it may seem surprising, many people do not know the actual size of their feet. Instead, they might randomly choose a size and find that the shoes fit quite well. However, all sorts of bad things can happen if you wear the wrong size shoes for your feet.

For example, if your shoes are always a little too big, the friction of the shoes against your feet can cause rashes or blisters. This mostly occurs along the back of the heels and around the toes. If your shoes are always a little too small, on the other hand, your feet may hurt all the time.

You can even get bunions from forcing your toes into an unnatural position. This is especially true with shoes that have pointed toe boxes. Shoes that are too tight can also constrict your feet and cause them to sweat more than usual, which, in turn, will slowly wear down the fabric of the shoe.

However, a shoe that fits your feet will hug your feet and keep them comfortable even if you walk miles in them. But how do you know what size you wear? Luckily, it’s easy to measure your feet on your own.

How to measure your feet

First, place a piece of paper on a flat, hard surface like a tile or wooden floor. Next, place your foot in the center of the sheet of paper and draw your foot using a pen or pencil. Try to trace as close to your foot as possible for the most accurate shape.

Once done, take a straight ruler or measuring tape and measure the length of your foot, starting from the heel to the tip of the longest toe. Write down your foot length, then look for a shoe size chart to match your measurements to a particular shoe size. For example, if your foot is only 8.75 inches long, you would wear a US size 6.

You may need to take additional measurements if you have unusually wide or narrow feet. That way, you can match all those measurements to a shoe size chart and finally find the right size for your foot. Then you can buy shoes online (buy more here).

Choosing the right size when buying shoes online

You might think that once you’ve found your true shoe size it should be easy to buy shoes online, but that’s not always the case. When you buy tennis shoes online, you won’t have the opportunity to put them on, walk around and find out if they are comfortable or uncomfortable. This is a significant disadvantage of buying shoes online.

Does that mean you shouldn’t worry about buying shoes online at all? Not necessarily. You will need to do more research when buying running shoes online. Otherwise, you might receive a boatload of shoes that don’t fit.

First, double-check to see if the website you’re buying from doesn’t have their size chart. Some shoe brands have slightly different size charts than other brands. If you don’t look carefully at these size charts, you could be buying the wrong shoe size for this brand.

Advice on shoe size

You will also want to check the width of shoes from different brands. Some marks will be a bit narrow.

If you have wider feet, this will be a problem and you may have to deal with the frustration of returning shoes that don’t fit. Another great tip is to check out customer reviews of different shoe brands.

If you see many previous customers complaining that a particular shoe runs small, it may be a good idea to size up. It’s always better for a shoe to be too big than too small. This way you can put on insoles or something else to fill the extra space in the shoe.

If you bought a pair of shoes from a brand that you plan to buy again, analyze your current shoe size. If the fit is satisfactory, order the same size as last time. If not, take the size difference into account and increase or decrease the size accordingly.

How to buy shoes online that fit you

Buying shoes online doesn’t have to be impossible or frustrating, but there are a few different factors you need to consider first. For example, you need to measure your feet to determine your shoe size. Then, when browsing other shoe brands, check the sites for shoe size charts.

Finally, remember how narrow or wide your foot is when shopping for shoes. To learn more, check out the other blogs on our website.
