Bengaluru IKEA stores trending on Twitter after queuing photos went viral
Residents of Bengaluru have not been able to keep calm since Swedish furniture brand IKEA opened its first store in the Nagasandra district of the IT capital. The store witnessed an overwhelming response from citizens, resulting in long and winding queues.
Footfall increased over the weekend as residents found time to explore and shop in the newly opened store. The wait time at the store jumped to three hours on Saturday and IKEA’s official Twitter account confirmed the same. “Bengaluru, we are overwhelmed with your response❣️ Current waiting time at Nagasandra store is 3 hours. Please plan accordingly or shop online.
Videos and photographs documenting long queues at IKEA flooded social media platforms. The memes poking fun at the crowd also generated quite a buzz.
Harsh Goenka, the chairman of RPG Enterprises, shared a clip and wrote, “It’s not MPs queuing in Maharashtra to form a government, it’s not an immigration queue for entering our country is not a vaccination queue to avoid the wave of Covid, it is not pilgrims queuing in Tirupati for darshan, it is the opening of the IKEA store in Bengaluru!”
It is not the MPs who line up in Maharashtra to form the government,
This is not an immigration queue to enter our country,
This is not a vaccination queue to avoid the Covid wave,
It is not the pilgrims who line up in Tirupati for darshan,
It’s the opening of the IKEA store in Bangalore!

Chief Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai inaugurated the IKEA store in Nagasandra Wednesday. Spread over 4.6 lakh square feet, the store is the largest IKEA outlet in the country and is located close to Nagasandra station of the Bangalore Namma metro.
The IKEA store in Bengaluru is the Swedish brand’s third outlet in India after those in Hyderabad and Mumbai. A company statement says the Bengaluru store offers “more than 7,000 affordable, good quality, durable and well-designed IKEA home furnishing products and inspiring home sets to inspire creative ideas to decorate your home. “.
