Aldi drops proposal to develop store on former site of North Wales Territorial Army Center
Aldi has withdrawn its interest in building a store on a former Territorial Army site in North Wales.
The Army Reserve Centre, on the corner of Marine Road and Bastion Road in Prestatyn, was sold to the Reserve Forces and Cadets Association for Wales in 2016.
The Ministry of Defense (MoD) then put it on the market with GVA – later taken over by Avison Young – and last year North Wales Live revealed that Aldi had made a bid on the site.

It is understood the German company was planning to move from an existing store on Meliden Road in the town.
But a real estate source says Aldi has now withdrawn its interest in the TA site.
Vale of Clwyd MP James Davies said: “I am delighted to hear that Aldi has chosen not to advance a bid for the site of the former TA center in Prestatyn.

“This building is something of a landmark in the city. I met with Aldi to discuss their plans last year and was very clear with them that their intentions to demolish it in its entirety were unacceptable.
“We can be more ambitious for the site, which is prominent and increasingly messy.

Aldi and Avison Young said they could not comment.
It is understood that an alternative offer has been made on the site but no further details are available at this stage.
